South West Coast Path - Bude to Boscastle

View from Buckator

An 16 mile walk along the South West Coast Path between Bude and Boscastle

A challenging walk along a spectacular part of the South West Coast Path. Although this can be achieved in a single day there is the village of Crackington haven near to the half way mark which allows one to cut the walk into two smaller options. Waterfalls to see, steep valleys to cross and some amazing views of the coastline.

South West Coast Path - Boscastle to Tintagel

Boscastle Harbour

An 5 mile walk along the South West Coast Path between Boscastle and Tintagel

A scenic walk that is not too much of a challenge to any seasoned walker. Rocky Valley presents a steep climb in and out but this really is a delight to behold and well worth the effort to get across it. The end of the walk is at Tintagel with all its Arthurian legend. Behold Camelot.

South West Coast Path - Perranporth to Newquay

Tidal bridge across The Gannel Estuary

An 11 mile walk along the South West Coast Path between Perranporth and Newquay

By South West Coast Path standards this is an easy walk along the low level cliffs with no particularly difficult climbs with the usual spectacular coastal views. The main obstacle on this section is crossing the River Gannel estuary. There are three footbridges but these are all dependant upon the state of the tide so tide tables need to be consulted and the walk planned appropriately.

South West Coast Path - Porthcothan to Padstow

Hawkers Cove

An 13.5 mile walk along the South West Coast Path between Porthcothan and Padstow

A moderate walk by South West Coastpath standards and even with a misty morning it is nonetheless spectacular. The walk includes Harlyn Bay and Mother Iveys Cottage, which is the source of a local legend of a cursed field. The end is at the bustling port of Padstow where there is plenty of opportunity for rewarding refreshments.

South West Coast Path - Port Isaac to Polzeath

Port Isaac Haven

An 9 mile walk along the South West Coast Path between Port Isaac and Polzeath

A stunning walk that is not too challenging. It starts at the picturesque village of Port Isaac before winding its way past Port Quin and around the Rumps headland and Pentire Point before descending to the surfing Mecca of Polzeath. The scenery takes ones breath away and every turn there is something new to see.

South West Coast Path - Hartland to Bude

Screda Cove

An 19 mile walk along the South West Coast Path between Hartland to Bude

The section from Hartland to Bude is the most challenging part of the whole South West Coast Path. This is definitely something for the more experienced hiker to undertake.

South West Coast Path - Helford to Coverack

Porthoustock

An 11 mile walk along the South West Coast Path between Helford and Coverack

South West Coast Path - Land's End to Sennen Cove

Coast path to Sennen Cove

A very easy 1.6 mile walk between Lands End and Sennen Cove on the South West Coast Path

This is an easy walk along this magnificent coast line. A bus service links the two ends or it can be completed as a circular walk returning along the Cornish Way cycle track which runs parallel to the Coast Path . Looking out towards the9this is included in the Viewranger navigation) west and the Scilly Isles one may catch a glimpse of a spire or a dome or hear the muffled toll of bells from the fabled land of Arthurian legend that is known as Lyonesse and which disappeared beneath the waves.

South West Coast Path - Looe to Plymouth

The Tamar Estuary

A 20.6 mile walk along the South West Coast Path between Looe and Plymouth.

This is the first section of the South Cornwall part of the South West Coast Path. There is a link between the two ends of the walk using the railways, changing at Liskeard. The walk is fairly easy in comparison with some sections of the South West Coast Path though it does have a few strenuous climbs. This particular walk misses out Rame Head in order to keep the distance down and allow connection of trains on the limited Sunday service.

South West Coast Path - Marazion to Porthleven

Old Tin mine

An 11 mile walk along the Cornish section of the South West Coast Path between Marazion and Porthleven

A moderate section of coast walking with few strenuous challenges as the path negotiates the cliffs from Marazion to Porthleven. With disused tin mines, the surfing beach at Praa Sands and the charming buildings around Prussia Cove there's plenty to take in along the way.

South West Coast Path - Mevagissey to Porthscatho

Place ferry

A 17 mile walk along the Cornish section of the South West Coast Path between Mevagissey and Porthscatho

This walk navigates along the Roseland Peninsular with diversions from the official Coast Path along country lanes. This provides a safer alternative for when the weather conditions are poor and the paths are slippery and visibility poor. This section of coastline has some remarkable scenery when the sun does shine and the paths are not too strenuous. The drawback is the lack of public transport between the two ends of the walk.

South West Coast Path - Mousehole to Marazion

Mousehole

A 7 mile walk along the Cornish section of the South West Coast Path between Mousehole and Marazion

A simple and easy walk along paved coastal areas of Mousehole, Newlyn, Penzance and Marazion. As on this occasion, even if it is dreadful weather, the path can still be completed safely and without aid of maps or navigation aids.

South West Coast Path - Newquay to Porthcothan

Porthcothan Bay

An 10.5 mile walk along the South West Coast Path between Newquay and Porthcothan

This section of the South West Coast Path provides typical picture postcard images of Cornwall in its full glory over a terrain that is not too demanding for the average walker. With stories of Mermaids and Giants there is plenty of folklore and history to read up about. An outstanding section without a doubt.

South West Coastpath - Par to Looe

Path to Polperro

A challenging 20 mile walk along the South West Coast Path between Par and Looe.

Some describe this as the most scenic of the south coast section of the Cornish South West Coast Path. There are the charming villages of Polkerris, Fowey, Polruan and Polprerro and the cliff-top path offers fantastic views along the Cornish coastline. Although the going is fairly strenuous around East Coombe, on the whole the path does not offer too much of a challenge other than in the sheer distance. Shorter walks can be planned using the bus services that connect Polruan and Polperro to Looe.

South West Coast Path - Par to Mevagissey

Charlestown

A 10 mile alternative route for the South West Coast Path between Par and Mevagissey.

With the highlights of Charlestown and Mevagissey this walk holds a lot of expectation. When the weather turns against the avid walker and the conditions along the coast path become slippery and dangerous then this route provides an alternative. Always put safety first and during times of dense fog and or heavy rain always use a sense of caution when proceeding.

South West Coast Path - Pendeen to St Ives

Portheras Cove

An alternative route to the official Coast Path using the Zennor Churchway otherwise known as the Coffin Path for a less challenging 13 mile walk between Pendeen and St Ives

This alternative route leads away from the coast path at Porthmeor to take the Zennor Churchway which follows an ancient track across a flat ridge of land that joins the cliff top to the hills. From Zennor the route is known as the Coffin Path on account of it being the route used to take coffins to Zennor church during the middle ages. This route provides an alternative for when bad weather sets in on the coast path when it can become hazardous or simply as a less strenuous and less time consuming route.
